From a global pandemic to an international civil rights movement to end systematic oppression against the Black community, it was as if the world told us it needed SHADES before it was written. This collection of poetry, though composed by one person, houses the voice of many. After completing countless interviews with friends, coworkers, and other women of color, author Kiana St Louis uses haikus, sonnets, free verse, and short poems to tell the story of the Black woman. Short but impactful, these lines encourage the woman, reminds her she is strong but human first, and recognizes black skin for the beauty it is.

100 Days of Dating

After going through what seemed like her toughest heartbreak, author Kiana St Louis was determined to prove that she couldn’t be the only person feeling as low as she did. Passionate and determined, Kiana interviewed 100 men and women from the ages of 22 to 54 years old on the topic of love. People from all over world entered the series to share their secrets, failed relationship lessons, success stories, dreams for the future, and even opened up about things they’ve never mentioned before. At the heart of it all, people began to feel safe knowing that their love experiences weren’t unique at all. In fact, Kiana found that we are much more alike than we are different.

About Kiana

Kiana St Louis, 29, is a Brooklyn-native, the author of 100 Days of Dating, SHADES: A Collection of Poetry Dedicated to the Black Woman, and her latest debut collection, a SHADES Saga Love, Trauma and Healing: Poetry for the Broken Heart. Kiana is a lover of words, parent to plants, and genuine spirit. By day, Kiana is a strategic C-Suite Executive Business Partner and by night, she authors books dedicated to the Black community. By using creativity and her various platforms, she emphasizes the strength in Black love, praises the Black woman, and uplifts Black culture.

Kiana is also a former podcast host on The Dating Network, contributes writing to black style blogs, and spends her time creating inspirational content, networking with creatives, and mentoring young girls around New York City.
